In Loving Memory: Bob Steck

Board Member, Photographer, and the Heart of Kisses for Kyle
Our hearts are heavy as we share the passing of our dear friend, family member, board member, and one of the most exceptional human beings to grace our lives. After an extremely difficult battle with pancreatic cancer, Bob Steck passed away, leaving behind a legacy of pure love, selflessness, and profound impact.
An Instant Connection
The beautiful journey with Bob began on June 1st, 2013, at the Willow Grove Day Camp. Bob learned about Kisses for Kyle through his sister-in-law, Nancy Taggart, whose son Bobby had been battling osteosarcoma. Bob showed up that day simply to take some photos of our event.
Instead, he found an instant connection, a strong desire to help our families, and a friendship that quickly blossomed into true family.
A Quiet Force of Love and Healing
Bob entered our lives during a very difficult personal time. Without ever being asked, Bob and his equally amazing wife, Sharon, stepped in to help heal hearts. Over the years, Bob worked quietly under the radar. In his mild-mannered way, he helped in powerfully loving, impactful ways that words can hardly capture.
No one will ever truly know the incredible lengths Bob went to in order to help thousands of families over the years. He never once looked for a thank you or recognition, yet our appreciation for him is tremendous.
Capturing Memories, Giving Everything
Bob’s support started through the lens of his camera. He captured extra-special moments at nearly every family event we hosted to make our families his top priority.
Soon, that support grew into something even more beautiful. Bob gave entirely of himself:
- Generosity: He contributed in deep, monetary ways all year long.
- Presence: He was always there, radiating warmth with a signature smile in his eyes.
- Empathy: His heart carried a deep, compassionate understanding of what his own family, our family, and every single Kisses for Kyle family endured.
Elevating Our Mission
Hoping against hope, a goal was set to bring Bob even closer to the core of our organization. Driven by how fiercely he loved and cared for our community, he accepted our invitation to join our Board of Directors in 2022. To our absolute joy, he said yes. His leadership helped provide incredible growth to our organization, allowing us the gift of spending even more time with one of our favorite human beings.
An Eternal Legacy
Since 2013, Bob made every single day better, aiding deeply in the ongoing healing process after the loss of Kyle in 2001 and the far too many childhood cancer diagnosis since. Because of Bob's heart, we have had the honor of sharing tens of thousands of photos for our families to treasure forever and for our supporters to see the true depth of our mission.
Bob, you are missed beyond measure, and you will be eternally loved.
